Companies in other industries have delivered consistent competitive advantage by examining their business processes, and then by utilizing technology to "invent new ways of doing work". If the goal of every E&P company is to out operate its competitors, then upstream companies must examine the core processes that drive value. Two key groups of processes offer significant opportunity for operational innovation: processes within a company's four walls and those that extend beyond corporate boundaries to key suppliers. Complex oil and gas operations may require the coordination of up to ten different suppliers on a single operation. Each of those suppliers is required to arrive at a remote location at a specific time with specific materials, personnel and equipment. Their crews and equipment must work together in order to successfully complete the specific procedure.
Companies recognize the need to improve efficiencies inside their four walls and with their suppliers and field staff, but no technology platform existed to enable this change. Until now.
